Plainsboro Preserve

The Plainsboro Preserve is a sprawling 1,000-acre open space nestled between Highway 1 and Highway 130 in the community of Plainsboro. The Plainsboro Reservation was formed through a partnership between the Jeffers family, Middlesex County, Plainsboro Township and New Jersey Audubon. As of fall 2021, the reservation has been administered and maintained by the Plainsboro Municipality with support from Middlesex County. The result is one of the region’s most significant ecological treasures, just minutes from the bustling Highway 1 Corridor.

The preservation is not only a gem for the Plainsboro community, but also for the surrounding communities. Residents and non-residents alike can enjoy this outdoor wonder.

Davidson's Mill Pond Park

Davidson’s Mill Pond Park is a great place for walking, ice fishing, learning about the environment and more.

It’s a pleasant series of short walks in the wooded setting around a central field with garden exposures. Ponds, shady forest and walking paths provide variety.

This park is passive and mostly undeveloped. The pond and waterfall where the mill once stood is one of the loveliest spots in the county.

Recommended for an easy/short hike if you’re in the area but probably won’t drive very far.Be sure to visit the butterfly house (usually open on weekends in June, July and August) on the field in the middle of the park. The Rutgers EARTH Center is also here.

Whether it’s a winter storm raging outside or a scrambled egg cooking up on a scorching sidewalk in summer, there are always two smooth rinks at the ProSkate Ice Arena. This two-rink facility opens its doors to public skating year-round, and on Friday nights a DJ spins music while skaters spin across the ice. More serious skaters take to the arena’s ice during figure skating lessons, which teach everyone from kindergarten to adult how to glide effortlessly on the ice. ProSkate also offers hockey lessons and half-day and full-day summer camps.

Pro Skate NJ is an ice rink located in Monmouth Junction, NJ

The all-day Beginner Hockey Summer Camp allows boys and girls ages 5-12 to learn basic hockey skills through fun games and activities. No skating experience is required and the camp divides players into three different skill groups. In addition, during the all-day skate camp, girls and boys from the age of 5 are divided into small groups depending on their skating level. They then learn the basic forward and backward movements or, if they are more advanced, practice their jumps and turns.

Von Thun’s Hofmarkt is a fifth-generation family business that celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013. There is something for everyone on the farm! La Serre opens in early May to allow customers to pick up their flower and plant needs for the warmer months.
